Dr. Debra Heald, Naturopathic Physician

About Dr. Debra Heald

Dr. Heald was born and raised in Calgary. Her healthcare career began as a registered nurse primarily in Emergency departments but included several years in community-based medicine as well. After 18 years, she switched professions and worked as a financial consultant for six years which gave her a full understanding of stress! She then pursued her lifelong dream of practicing medicine. In 2008, she graduated from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (Boucher Campus), a fully accredited naturopathic medical school in Vancouver, BC.

She has always had an in-depth understanding and great respect for conventional medicine but is passionate about Integrative medicine. Delving into biochemistry is her favourite part of solving health riddles. When the body is returned to its ideal environment, it works at healing itself. Dr. Heald was fortunate to have worked in the field of microbiome and nutritional research in Silicon Valley, as well as lecturing on detoxification and nutrition across North America. She achieved her fellowship in Functional and Restorative Medicine in 2012.

Dr. Heald served as a board member of the College of Naturopathic Doctors of Alberta from 2011-2014, chaired the competence committee and was formerly an advisor to the quality assurance committee of the College of Naturopathic Physicians of BC., as well as being a member of the American College for the Advancement of Medicine, the Institute for Functional Medicine and the American Academy of Anti-aging Medicine. Dr. Heald is currently licensed with prescriptive rights in British Columbia and California.

Dr. Heald recharges through yoga, hiking, and family.
